Dr. Mel Vincent
Director of Psychiatric Services @Edgewood Treatment Centre
Dr. Vincent graduated from medical school at McMaster University in 1984 and completed his psychiatric residency in 1988. This was followed by five years at the Homewood Health Center, three years doing addiction psychiatry on a full-time basis. He successfully passed the American Society of Addiction Medicine examination in 1992. Dr. Vincent moved to British Columbia in 1993 where he practiced community psychiatry in the Comox Valley. He is currently a faculty member in the Addiction Psychiatry Division, University of British Columbia, Past President of the British Columbia Psychiatric Association and has been the Director of Psychiatric Services at EDGEWOOD since 2002. Dr. Vincent has done numerous presentations at conferences and continuing education events. He is the co-director of a community training program in addictions for practicing physicians, and in October 2014, Dr. Vincent published his first book: Diagnosing and Treating Addiction.
